Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Live-in Housekeeper to join the esteemed household staff of a prominent private estate near Ipswich, Suffolk. This is an exceptional opportunity for a meticulous and reliable individual to contribute to the smooth running of a grand residence. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the estate, ensuring a comfortable and pristine environment for the principals and their guests. The role offers live-in accommodation and requires a flexible approach to working hours, including occasional weekends and evenings, reflecting the needs of a private family residence. We are looking for someone with a proactive attitude, strong attention to detail, and a respectful understanding of privacy and discretion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning duties including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, polishing, and tidying all areas of the residence to an impeccable standard.
  • Care for fine furnishings, antiques, delicate surfaces, and specialist materials.
  • Manage laundry, including hand washing delicate garments, ironing, and organising wardrobes.
  • Oversee linen changes and ensure all bedding and towels are fresh and presentable.
  • Assist with grocery shopping and inventory management for household supplies.
  • Support other household staff members as required, fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Adhere to strict health and safety guidelines within the estate.
  • Report any maintenance issues or damage promptly to the Estate Manager.
  • Assist with preparation and clear-up for private events, parties, and functions.
  • Ensure all guest areas are prepared to the highest standard prior to arrivals.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Housekeeper in a private household, luxury hotel, or similar high-end environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for maintaining pristine surroundings.
  • Knowledge of caring for delicate fabrics, fine art, and antiques.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • A proactive and discreet approach to all duties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Clean driving licence (advantageous due to estate location).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal housekeeping qualifications or relevant training certificates.
  • Experience with specialist cleaning equipment and products.
  • Basic IT skills for inventory management or communication.
  • First Aid certification.
