Job Description

Age UK Weston-super-Mare is seeking a flexible Elderly Errand Runner to provide essential practical support to older people. In this vital role, you will assist our service users with various errands, helping them to maintain their independence and enjoy a better quality of life. Key Responsibilities

  • Purchase groceries, household items, and prescriptions for service users.
  • Transport items securely and efficiently to service users' homes.
  • Assist with light administrative tasks such as posting letters or collecting parcels.
  • Provide friendly and reassuring companionship during errands.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases and expenses.
  • Communicate regularly with service users and the Age UK team regarding progress and any concerns.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and safeguarding policies.
  • Demonstrate empathy, patience, and respect towards all service users.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • A kind, patient, and empathetic demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
  • Reliable and trustworthy.
  • Valid UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Basic understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a care or support role.
  • Knowledge of the Weston-super-Mare area.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
