Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and organised Ward Logistics Coordinator to join our dedicated team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of supplies, equipment, and patient-related logistics within assigned hospital wards. Your work will directly support clinical staff, allowing them to focus on patient care by maintaining optimal stock levels, coordinating equipment movement, and managing non-clinical requests. This role requires excellent communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You will be an integral part of maintaining the smooth operation of our wards, contributing significantly to patient safety and staff efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain accurate stock levels of consumables, linen, and medical supplies on assigned wards.
  • Coordinate the delivery and collection of equipment, ensuring timely availability for patient care.
  • Process and track orders for supplies, liaising with procurement and external suppliers as needed.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and ensure stock rotation to minimise waste.
  • Assist with the movement of patients' personal belongings and records as required.
  • Report and follow up on any maintenance issues or equipment faults.
  • Support ward staff with non-clinical administrative tasks, such as filing and data entry.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and trust policies regarding storage and handling.
  • Facilitate communication between ward staff and support services (e.g., estates, domestics, porters).

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a logistics, inventory management, or administrative role, preferably within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of stock control principles and practices.
  • Physical capability to handle and move supplies and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
  • Experience with hospital inventory systems.
  • Knowledge of NHS procurement processes.
  • Full UK driving license.
