Job Description

Join Lionbridge as a Translation Verifier (Bilingual) and play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality of translated content for our diverse client base. This position requires native-level fluency in English and at least one other target language, with a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of cultural nuances. As a Translation Verifier, you will be responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying translated materials across various domains, ensuring linguistic accuracy, stylistic consistency, and adherence to client-specific guidelines. This ‘Smart Working’ role offers flexibility, blending remote work with occasional on-site collaboration, promoting a balanced and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and verify translated content for accuracy, completeness, and linguistic quality in both source and target languages.
  • Ensure translated materials adhere to client-specific style guides, glossaries, and terminology.
  • Identify and correct grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, punctuation issues, and syntactical inconsistencies.
  • Provide constructive feedback to translators and collaborate with project managers to resolve linguistic queries.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on various content types, including marketing materials, technical documents, legal texts, and software interfaces.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry-specific terminology and cultural sensitivities relevant to the target languages.
  • Utilize Translation Memory (TM) and Terminology Management (TM) tools effectively.

Required Skills

  • Native-level fluency in English and at least one other language (written and spoken).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent command of grammar, syntax, and punctuation in both working languages.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve linguistic issues.
  • Familiarity with translation memory software (e.g., SDL Trados, MemoQ, Memsource).
  • Strong understanding of cultural nuances and their impact on translation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Modern Languages, Communications, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in translation, localization, or linguistic quality assurance.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) or localization platforms.
  • Certification in translation or a related linguistic field.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
