Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Palletizer Operator with an aptitude for automation support to join our manufacturing team in Downtown Des Moines. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring automated palletizing equipment, ensuring the efficient and accurate stacking and preparation of finished goods for shipment. This position requires a proactive individual who can not only manage daily operations but also provide first-level troubleshooting and support for automation systems, contributing to our continuous improvement goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and adjust automated palletizing equipment to ensure smooth and continuous operation.
- Perform routine quality checks on palletized products, verifying accuracy of counts, labels, and packaging integrity.
- Load and unload materials from palletizers using forklifts or other material handling equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance tasks and basic troubleshooting on automation systems, including clearing jams and minor adjustments.
- Collaborate with maintenance technicians and engineers on more complex issues and system improvements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Accurately complete production logs, reports, and other necessary documentation.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance automation knowledge and operational skills.
- Identify and report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality deviations.
- Work effectively as part of a team to achieve production targets and operational excellence.
Required Skills
- Proven experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor equipment adjustments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to read and understand operating manuals and safety instructions.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift certification or experience operating powered industrial trucks.
- Previous experience with automated palletizing systems or robotics.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and system monitoring.
- Experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
