Job Description

We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Hospital Patient Transporter to join our dynamic team. This is an active role crucial to the smooth operation of our hospital, ensuring patients are safely and efficiently moved between departments for appointments, procedures, and discharge. Key Responsibilities

  • Transport patients safely and efficiently via wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds to and from various hospital departments (e.g., imaging, therapy, surgery, rooms).
  • Assist patients with transferring to and from transport equipment, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times.
  • Verify patient identification and ensure proper documentation accompanies each patient transport.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and hospital staff regarding transport procedures and expected wait times.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of transport equipment, reporting any malfunctions or issues promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control guidelines.
  • Provide empathetic support and reassurance to patients during transport, helping to alleviate anxieties.
  • Respond promptly to transport requests and prioritize tasks efficiently to maintain hospital flow.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned to support the patient care team.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift patients and equipment
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to stand/walk for extended periods
  • Empathy and a compassionate demeanor
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
  • Basic computer literacy for logging transports

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting or customer service role
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
