Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HVAC Technician to join our Facilities Services team in Boise, ID. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems within FedEx corporate buildings. Your expertise will ensure a comfortable, safe, and efficient working environment for our employees, supporting the seamless operation of our global network. This position requires a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on all HVAC systems, including inspecting, cleaning, and lubricating components.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex HVAC system malfunctions, accurately identifying issues and implementing effective repairs.
- Install, replace, or modify HVAC equipment, including air handlers, chillers, boilers, pumps, and associated controls.
- Respond promptly to service requests and emergency breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to building operations.
- Monitor building management systems (BMS) and control systems to optimize performance and energy efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal codes, as well as company safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other facilities staff and external contractors to complete projects and resolve issues.
Required Skills
- EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification (Type I, II, and III)
- NATE certification or equivalent HVAC industry certification
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair complex HVAC systems, including split systems, package units, and chillers
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control circuits, and refrigeration cycles
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or vocational training in HVAC technology
- Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and direct digital controls (DDC)
- Knowledge of energy management strategies and sustainable HVAC practices
- Previous experience in a corporate or commercial facilities environment
- Basic plumbing and electrical knowledge
