Job Description

Old Dominion Freight Line is offering an incredible opportunity to join our team in Joliet, IL as a Trainee Heavy Vehicle Operator. Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate and excel in all aspects of the company-sponsored CDL-A training program.
- Learn and apply Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and safety standards.
- Master the pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspection procedures for heavy vehicles.
- Develop proficiency in operating various types of heavy vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures throughout the training and subsequent employment.
- Maintain a clean driving record during and after the training period.
- Work collaboratively with trainers, mentors, and fellow trainees.
Required Skills
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Strong commitment to safety and a willingness to learn.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks associated with heavy vehicle operation.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Prior experience in a labor-intensive role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
