Old Dominion Freight Line is offering an incredible opportunity to join our team in Joliet, IL as a Trainee Heavy Vehicle Operator. Key Responsibilities

  • Actively participate and excel in all aspects of the company-sponsored CDL-A training program.
  • Learn and apply Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and safety standards.
  • Master the pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspection procedures for heavy vehicles.
  • Develop proficiency in operating various types of heavy vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures throughout the training and subsequent employment.
  • Maintain a clean driving record during and after the training period.
  • Work collaboratively with trainers, mentors, and fellow trainees.

Required Skills

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
  • Strong commitment to safety and a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks associated with heavy vehicle operation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Prior experience in a labor-intensive role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
