Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Cybersecurity Analyst to join our remote team with a focus on Microsoft security technologies. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual passionate about cybersecurity to gain hands-on experience with industry-leading tools and contribute to the protection of critical systems. You will work closely with senior analysts, learning to monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents within a Microsoft-centric environment. This role is 100% remote, allowing you to work from anywhere within the USA.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts and events from various Microsoft security platforms (e.g., Azure Sentinel, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft 365 Defender).
- Perform initial triage and analysis of security incidents to determine scope and impact.
- Assist in the investigation and containment of security breaches and vulnerabilities.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of security monitoring playbooks and procedures.
- Participate in incident response drills and exercises.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of security controls within the Microsoft ecosystem.
- Document security configurations, incidents, and remediation steps.
- Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and Microsoft security features.
- Collaborate with IT and development teams to enhance overall security posture.
Required Skills
- Foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles and concepts.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems and basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS).
- Basic knowledge of cloud computing concepts, particularly Microsoft Azure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team.
- Demonstrated eagerness to learn and grow within the cybersecurity field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900), or equivalent.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
- Prior experience (internship or entry-level) in an IT support or security-related role.
- Understanding of common attack vectors and mitigation strategies.
