Job Description
Join UPS as a Driving Instructor and play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of our professional drivers. You will be responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating comprehensive training programs that ensure our drivers meet the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and customer service. This is a hands-on role requiring extensive knowledge of DOT regulations, commercial driving practices, and adult learning principles. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction for new and experienced drivers.
- Develop and update training materials, ensuring compliance with all company policies and DOT regulations.
- Evaluate driver performance, providing constructive feedback and remedial training as needed.
- Maintain accurate training records and report on progress.
- Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement among all driving personnel.
- Stay current with industry trends, safety regulations, and best practices in driver training.
- Operate and demonstrate various types of UPS vehicles safely and proficiently.
Required Skills
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (Class A or B, depending on vehicle type).
- Minimum 3 years of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Proven ability to teach, coach, and mentor adults effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Thorough knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and safety standards.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a driving instructor or corporate trainer.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Certification in driver safety or adult education.
- Experience with telematics and in-cab technology.
