Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) to join our inpatient pharmacy team for the night shift in Irvine, CA. This crucial role involves preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and supporting pharmacists to ensure optimal patient care in a hospital setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in our integrated healthcare system, contributing to medication safety and efficiency during overnight hours. We are offering a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications (oral, topical, and sterile products) accurately under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Perform sterile compounding in a cleanroom environment in accordance with USP <797> and <800> guidelines.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating medications to ensure proper levels and expiration dates.
- Assist with medication reconciliation and patient specific drug preparations.
- Operate and maintain automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and other pharmacy technology.
- Respond to medication-related inquiries from nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and medication error prevention initiatives.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as hospital policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current California Pharmacy Technician License (or eligible for licensure upon hire).
- Current CPhT certification from PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board).
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with pharmacy software systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work night shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in an inpatient hospital setting.
- Experience with sterile compounding and hazardous medications.
- Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
