Job Description
Join FedEx Ground as a Part-time Weekend Freight Handler in Santa Maria, CA. This crucial role involves sorting, loading, and unloading packages and freight within our fast-paced distribution center. You will be an essential part of our team, ensuring packages are processed efficiently and safely for timely delivery. The shift is Saturday and Sunday, 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM, perfect for those seeking supplemental income or flexible hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload packages from trucks and conveyor belts.
- Sort packages by destination and ensure accurate placement.
- Scan packages and update tracking information as required.
- Operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks) as needed, following safety protocols.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve daily operational goals.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, push, and pull packages weighing up to 75 lbs. without assistance.
- Ability to maneuver packages weighing up to 150 lbs. with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person.
- Excellent physical stamina and endurance for repetitive tasks.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate package handling and sorting.
- Reliability and punctuality for early morning shifts.
- Basic literacy skills (ability to read labels and numbers).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or freight handling environment.
- Experience with material handling equipment.
- High school diploma or GED.
