Job Description
Join the FedEx Freight team as a Dock Hand and play a crucial role in our logistics operations. This is an immediate hire opportunity for motivated individuals ready to contribute to the efficient movement of freight. As a Dock Hand, you will be responsible for loading, unloading, and sorting freight within our service center. We are looking for dependable team members who can work in a fast-paced environment and adhere to strict safety protocols. A successful drug screen is required for immediate hire, ensuring a safe working environment for all our team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload freight manually or using material handling equipment.
- Sort, scan, and stage freight for outbound and inbound shipments.
- Verify shipment accuracy against manifests and ensure proper documentation.
- Operate a forklift or other power industrial equipment safely (training provided if needed).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area according to company standards.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, contributing to a secure workplace.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient dock operations and timely freight movement.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy freight (up to 75 lbs) repeatedly and safely.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic math and reading skills to handle manifests and shipping labels.
- Commitment to working safely and maintaining a safe environment for yourself and others.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and a dynamic dock environment.
- Physical endurance to stand, walk, push, pull, lift, and carry for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, freight, or logistics environment.
- Forklift certification or experience operating similar material handling equipment.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
