Job Description
Join Edward-Elmhurst Health as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) specializing in inpatient services during our night shift. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications, including sterile and non-sterile compounds, accurately and efficiently.
- Assist pharmacists with medication order entry, verification, and inventory management.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct medication cart fills, automated dispensing cabinet replenishment, and floor stock inspections.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely medication delivery and address inquiries.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and ensure a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to all patient safety protocols.
- Manage medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating supplies to minimize waste.
Required Skills
- Current CPhT certification from PTCB or NHA.
- Active Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Illinois.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in an inpatient hospital setting.
- Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations and medical terminology.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication handling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Flexibility to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by departmental needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with hospital pharmacy automation systems (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell).
- Experience with sterile compounding (IV preparation).
- Associate's degree in a related field.
- Previous experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
