Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and efficient Media Interview Typist with a strong journalism focus to join our remote team. In this role, you will be responsible for transcribing interviews with high accuracy and speed, ensuring all nuances and details are captured for our journalistic content. This is a critical position supporting our newsrooms and content creators in delivering timely and precise information.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe audio and video interviews, lectures, and discussions related to journalistic content.
- Ensure proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation while maintaining the integrity of the spoken word.
- Meet deadlines for transcription assignments, often under tight journalistic timelines.
- Proofread and edit transcriptions for errors, omissions, and clarity.
- Manage and organize audio/video files and corresponding transcriptions.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive interview content.
- Communicate effectively with journalists and editors regarding transcription details.
Required Skills
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy (minimum 70 WPM).
- Proficiency in transcription software and tools.
- Strong command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Exceptional listening skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to understand and transcribe various accents and audio qualities.
- Basic understanding of journalistic ethics and content sensitivity.
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet home office environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a typist, transcriber, or data entry specialist, especially in media or legal fields.
- Familiarity with journalistic terminology and interview formats.
- Experience working remotely.
- Associate's degree or certification in a relevant field (e.g., journalism, communications).
