Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Mastering Engineer to join our professional audio team in Davenport, IA. This role is pivotal in ensuring the highest audio fidelity and artistic intent for our diverse range of music and audio projects. The Mastering Engineer will be responsible for the final audio polish, optimizing tracks for various playback systems and distribution platforms, and collaborating closely with producers and artists to achieve their creative vision. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality audio mastering for a variety of music genres and audio content, ensuring optimal sonic balance, dynamics, and clarity.
  • Collaborate with artists, producers, and internal teams to understand and realize their artistic and technical requirements.
  • Prepare master files in various formats (e.g., DDP, WAV, MP3) suitable for CD manufacturing, digital distribution, streaming platforms, and broadcast.
  • Maintain and calibrate mastering studio equipment, ensuring accuracy and optimal performance.
  • Conduct quality control checks to identify and correct any audio imperfections or technical issues.
  • Stay current with industry trends, mastering technologies, and audio standards.
  • Archive project files and maintain detailed documentation for all mastering sessions.
  • Provide technical guidance and feedback on mixes to improve overall project quality.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Mastering Engineer in the music or post-production industry.
  • Expert proficiency with digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Nuendo, or Harrison Mixbus, specifically for mastering applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of audio processing tools, including EQs, compressors, limiters, reverb, and spatial effects.
  • Exceptional critical listening skills with a keen ear for detail, balance, and dynamics.
  • Strong understanding of acoustic principles and psychoacoustics.
  • Familiarity with various audio codecs, file formats, and mastering standards (e.g., R128, LUFS).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction and team collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Experience with analog mastering equipment and hybrid mastering workflows.
  • Proficiency with specific mastering software suites (e.g., iZotope Ozone, FabFilter Pro-MB, Sonnox Oxford Plug-ins).
  • Portfolio demonstrating a diverse range of mastered projects.
  • Certifications from recognized audio engineering programs or institutions.
  • Experience in advanced audio restoration techniques.
