Job Description
As a Content Metadata Analyst at Netflix, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of metadata for our vast library of content. This 100% remote position requires meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of content classification, tagging, and organization principles. You will be responsible for analyzing, categorizing, and enhancing metadata across various content types, supporting the seamless discovery and user experience for millions of subscribers worldwide. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of our content catalog and improving searchability and recommendations. Equipment will be provided to ensure you have everything needed to succeed in your role from your remote workspace.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, review, and edit content metadata (e.g., genre, cast, crew, synopses, keywords) to ensure accuracy and adherence to Netflix's style guides and standards.
- Categorize and tag content based on specific guidelines to enhance discoverability and personalized recommendations.
- Identify and resolve metadata discrepancies, inconsistencies, and errors across the content catalog.
- Collaborate with content operations, product, and engineering teams to improve metadata tools and workflows.
- Stay updated on content trends, classification best practices, and regional nuances to inform metadata strategies.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of metadata policies and procedures.
- Manage large volumes of data with precision and efficiency.
Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience in content metadata management, content operations, or data analysis, preferably within media, entertainment, or tech industries.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency in data entry and database management, with experience in content management systems (CMS).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a 100% remote environment.
- Strong understanding of content classification and taxonomy principles.
- Comfortable with learning new tools and technologies rapidly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field.
- Experience with SQL or other querying languages for data extraction and analysis.
- Familiarity with various international content types and cultural sensitivities.
- Previous experience working remotely and collaborating with distributed teams.
