Job Description

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and analytical individual to join our Policy Fact-Checking team as a Junior Policy Fact-Checker. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for meticulously reviewing and verifying the accuracy of content against established policy guidelines and external credible sources. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with a strong ethical compass, excellent research skills, and an unwavering commitment to truth and fairness. You will work closely with senior fact-checkers and policy analysts to ensure content on our platforms adheres to the highest standards of accuracy and complies with our community guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research and verification of claims made in various forms of content, including articles, posts, and multimedia.
  • Cross-reference information with authoritative and independent sources to ascertain factual accuracy.
  • Identify and flag misleading, inaccurate, or deceptive content according to predefined policy frameworks.
  • Document research findings and provide clear, concise explanations for factual determinations.
  • Collaborate with senior team members to refine fact-checking methodologies and contribute to policy updates.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive content and policy discussions.
  • Stay informed about current events, policy debates, and emerging misinformation trends.

Required Skills

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in conducting efficient and effective online research using various search engines and databases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Political Science, Communications, Library Science, or a related field.
  • Prior experience (academic or professional) in research, data verification, or content moderation.
  • Understanding of logical fallacies and cognitive biases.
  • Experience with content management systems or similar internal tools.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
