Job Description

Join the Old Town School of Folk Music as a Summer Music Camp Counselor! This seasonal role is perfect for passionate individuals who love music, enjoy working with children, and want to contribute to a vibrant artistic community. You will play a crucial part in creating a memorable and enriching summer experience for our campers, assisting with musical activities, supervision, and overall camp operations. Housing is provided for the duration of the camp.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise campers during all activities, ensuring a safe and positive environment.
  • Assist music instructors during lessons and workshops, facilitating learning and participation.
  • Organize and lead recreational activities, games, and team-building exercises.
  • Provide mentorship and support to campers, encouraging their musical growth and personal development.
  • Assist with camp logistics, including set-up, clean-up, and material distribution.
  • Act as a positive role model, upholding camp rules and values.
  • Communicate effectively with camp leadership regarding camper needs or concerns.
  • Participate in staff training and orientation sessions.

Required Skills

  • Strong passion for music and arts education.
  • Experience working with children or youth in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Reliability, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
  • Basic musical aptitude or interest in learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Proficiency in playing a musical instrument (e.g., guitar, piano, ukulele, percussion).
  • Previous experience as a camp counselor or similar leadership role.
  • Background in music performance, education, or related fields.
  • College student or recent graduate in music, education, or humanities.
