Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented Air Freight Handlers to join our team at the Palmdale Regional Airport. This pivotal role involves the efficient and safe handling, sorting, and loading/unloading of air freight packages and cargo. As an Air Freight Handler, you will be an integral part of our logistics operation, ensuring timely and accurate movement of goods crucial to our global network. This position requires physical stamina, attention to safety protocols, and a commitment to teamwork in a fast-paced airport environment. Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload freight and packages from aircraft, containers, and trucks using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Sort and stage freight according to destination, size, and weight, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently (training provided if needed).
- Inspect freight for damage and discrepancies, reporting issues to supervisors.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety regulations, TSA guidelines, and airport security procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the warehouse and ramp areas.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall cargo operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 75 lbs) regularly and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to read labels and documents.
- Reliable transportation to and from the airport facility.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and a dynamic airport environment.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or airport operations setting.
- Experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack).
- High school diploma or GED.
