Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Billing Administrative Assistant with a strong focus on invoicing to join our finance team. This role is essential for maintaining accurate billing records, processing invoices, and supporting the financial operations of our institution. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring timely and correct billing, contributing to the overall financial health of Michigan Medicine.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, process, and distribute patient and third-party invoices accurately and promptly.
- Verify billing data and resolve discrepancies by researching and correcting information.
- Communicate with patients, insurance companies, and internal departments regarding billing inquiries and issues.
- Maintain organized billing records and documentation, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures related to invoicing and accounts receivable.
- Generate reports on billing activities, outstanding invoices, and collection efforts.
- Support the finance department with various administrative tasks as needed.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of all financial and patient information.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and billing procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in a billing or administrative role, preferably within a healthcare setting.
