Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Catering Assistant to join our team on a term-time only basis. This is an entry-level position perfect for individuals eager to start a career in the catering industry or gain valuable experience within an educational setting. You will play a vital role in the daily operations of our campus kitchen and dining facilities, ensuring our students and staff enjoy high-quality meals and excellent service. This role requires flexibility, a positive attitude, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, and chopping ingredients.
- Serve food and beverages to students, staff, and visitors with a friendly and efficient manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen, dining areas, and equipment, adhering to all food safety regulations.
- Assist with washing dishes, cutlery, and kitchen utensils.
- Restock food items, beverages, and supplies as required.
- Operate till systems and handle cash/card payments accurately.
- Support the catering team in setting up and clearing dining areas for service.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
- Attend to customer queries and provide excellent customer service.
Required Skills
- No previous experience required – full training will be provided.
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to adhere to a schedule.
- Basic understanding of hygiene principles or a willingness to learn quickly.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (e.g., Level 1 or 2).
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- An understanding of dietary requirements and allergies.
