Job Description
Are you a compassionate animal lover looking for a rewarding role with flexible hours? PetSmart in Missoula is seeking a Cattery Assistant to join our dedicated team. This entry-level position involves providing exceptional care and a clean, comfortable environment for the cats staying in our Pet Hotel. If you enjoy routine tasks, have a gentle touch, and love spending time with feline friends, this ‘easy work’ opportunity is perfect for you. No prior experience is required – we’ll provide all the training you need!
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize cat enclosures, bedding, and litter boxes daily.
- Provide fresh food and water to all cats according to feeding schedules and dietary needs.
- Monitor cats for any signs of illness, injury, or behavioral changes and report observations to management.
- Administer medications as directed by pet parents and supervisors (after proper training).
- Engage with cats through play, petting, and gentle interaction to ensure their comfort and well-being.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cattery area and supply storage.
- Assist with check-ins and check-outs of feline guests, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with pet parents regarding their cat's stay and general information.
Required Skills
- Genuine love and respect for animals, especially cats.
- Reliability and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and meticulously.
- Strong attention to detail for cleaning and observation tasks.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Basic communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in animal care, even if informal (e.g., volunteering at a shelter).
- Customer service experience.
- Familiarity with various cat breeds and behaviors.
