Job Description

We are seeking an inspiring and dynamic Charter School Music Lead to join our innovative educational environment. The successful candidate will be a passionate advocate for music education, responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive music curriculum that engages students across all grade levels. This role involves teaching a variety of musical disciplines, directing school ensembles, and fostering a love for music within our student body. The Music Lead will also collaborate with other faculty to integrate music into the broader curriculum, contributing to a holistic and enriching learning experience. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive music curriculum for K-8 or K-12 students.
  • Teach general music classes, instrumental music (band/orchestra), and/or vocal music (choir) as needed.
  • Direct and manage school musical ensembles, including rehearsals and performances.
  • Organize and execute school-wide musical events, concerts, and productions.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to integrate music into interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
  • Mentor and guide students in their musical development and appreciation.
  • Manage music department resources, including instruments, equipment, and budget.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and music program activities.
  • Stay current with best practices in music education and incorporate innovative teaching methodologies.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification in Music (or ability to obtain one in Oklahoma).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience teaching music in a school setting.
  • Proficiency in teaching a variety of musical instruments and/or vocal techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop engaging and age-appropriate music lessons.
  • Strong classroom management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Passion for fostering creativity and musical expression in young people.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Music Education or a related field.
  • Experience leading a music department or program.
  • Proficiency with music technology and digital audio workstations.
  • Experience with curriculum development in an arts-focused or charter school environment.
  • Ability to teach multiple instruments or diverse musical genres.
