Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Customs Brokerage Intern to join our Freight Forwarding team in Omaha, NE. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the complex world of international trade and customs compliance. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learning about customs regulations, documentation, and the intricacies of moving goods across borders. This role is ideal for individuals pursuing a career in supply chain, logistics, international business, or a related field, looking to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical, fast-paced environment. You will support daily operations, assist with customs entries, and contribute to ensuring efficient and compliant international shipments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and submission of customs entries and related documentation.
- Learn and apply various customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements.
- Communicate with clients, carriers, and customs officials to resolve discrepancies or gather necessary information.
- Support the team in managing import/export processes and ensuring compliance with all governmental agencies.
- Maintain accurate records and databases, ensuring data integrity for customs declarations.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new software and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Basic understanding of international trade concepts (preferred but not required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field.
- Previous administrative or office experience.
- Familiarity with customs regulations or freight forwarding processes through coursework or prior exposure.
