Job Description
Are you passionate about fashion, sustainability, and have a keen eye for detail? ThredUp is seeking an E-commerce Vintage Clothing Sorter to join our dynamic warehouse team in State College, PA. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for meticulously inspecting, evaluating, and categorizing incoming vintage clothing items, ensuring they meet our high quality standards for our online marketplace. Your fashion expertise will directly contribute to curating unique and desirable collections for our customers. This is an on-site, warehouse-based position vital to our operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and unbox incoming shipments of vintage and secondhand clothing.
- Carefully inspect each item for quality, condition, authenticity, and potential flaws (stains, rips, missing buttons, etc.).
- Accurately categorize items based on brand, style, era, material, and condition.
- Utilize an 'eye for fashion' to identify desirable vintage pieces and assess their market value for e-commerce listings.
- Perform light cleaning, steaming, or minor repairs as needed to prepare items for photography.
- Accurately input item data into our inventory management system using basic computer skills.
- Organize and store sorted items in designated warehouse locations, maintaining an orderly environment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and meet daily processing targets.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and warehouse procedures.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for fashion, especially vintage and secondhand clothing.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify subtle differences in fabric, quality, and condition.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and inventory management.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 25 lbs), and reach for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail, e-commerce, consignment, or a similar sorting/inventory role.
- Familiarity with various fashion brands, designers, and vintage eras.
- Knowledge of textiles and fabric care.
- An understanding of sustainable fashion practices.
