Job Description
Join our dynamic team as an Export Fumigation Assistant in Chicago, IL. This critical role involves preparing shipping containers for fumigation and ensuring strict adherence to international export regulations. You will work closely with our certified technicians to safely handle materials, set up treatment areas, and maintain meticulous records. This position is ideal for an individual who is highly detail-oriented, physically capable, and committed to upholding the highest safety standards in a fast-paced environment. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist certified fumigation technicians in the preparation and execution of container fumigation treatments.
- Carefully inspect and seal shipping containers to ensure airtight conditions prior to fumigation.
- Handle and transport fumigant materials and equipment following strict safety protocols.
- Monitor fumigation processes, ensuring compliance with established procedures and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, materials used, and safety checks.
- Perform general clean-up and maintenance of equipment and work areas.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental standards.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding job status and any potential issues.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols diligently.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Comfortable working in industrial environments and with chemical handling (with proper PPE and training).
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or industrial setting.
- Forklift operation certification.
- Familiarity with HAZMAT procedures or safety training.
