Job Description
Join FedEx Express as an Airport Ramp Agent in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and become a crucial part of our flight logistics team. Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload freight, packages, and cargo onto and from aircraft, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure placement.
- Operate various ground support equipment (GSE) such as tugs, forklifts, and belt loaders safely and efficiently.
- Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of ground support equipment.
- Marshaling aircraft on the ramp, guiding pilots during parking and departure procedures.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and airport procedures.
- Communicate effectively with flight crews, dispatchers, and other ground personnel.
- Conduct visual inspections of aircraft prior to arrival and departure.
- Prepare and complete necessary paperwork and documentation related to cargo movements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment on the ramp and in equipment storage areas.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure timely flight departures and arrivals.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift heavy packages (up to 75 lbs) and perform strenuous physical tasks consistently.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain airport security clearance and all required certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an airport operations or logistics environment.
- Experience operating heavy equipment or ground support equipment.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
