Job Description

Google is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Cybersecurity Analyst to join our remote Security Operations team. In this critical role, you will be at the forefront of protecting Google’s assets and users from evolving cyber threats. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to contribute to our global security posture from anywhere within the UK. You will be responsible for monitoring security systems, responding to incidents, performing threat analysis, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our security processes and technologies. We are looking for an individual with a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for cybersecurity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems for security incidents and anomalies.
  • Conduct initial triage, investigation, and analysis of security alerts, determining their severity and potential impact.
  • Execute incident response procedures, including containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident analysis.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and contribute to patch management efforts.
  • Participate in threat intelligence gathering and analysis to proactively identify and mitigate emerging risks.
  • Develop and maintain security documentation, including standard operating procedures and incident playbooks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security best practices and ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting on security incidents and posture to management.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity trends, technologies, and threat landscape.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Chronicle, ELK Stack).
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP, and common network services.
  • Experience with operating systems (Linux, Windows) and their security configurations.
  • Knowledge of common attack vectors and defense strategies.
  • Familiarity with incident response methodologies (e.g., NIST, SANS).
  • Ability to analyze logs and forensic data to identify security breaches.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Scripting experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation and analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CEH, GIAC certifications).
  • Experience with cloud security platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).
  • Experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment.
