Job Description

We are seeking skilled and highly motivated Heavy Equipment Operators to join our dynamic team in Whistler, British Columbia. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, rock trucks, and compactors in a safe and efficient manner on various construction sites.
  • Perform daily pre-operation and post-operation inspections of equipment, documenting findings and maintaining accurate operational logs.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and site-specific safety plans to ensure a secure working environment for all personnel.
  • Read and accurately interpret blueprints, grade stakes, survey markings, and other construction documents to execute tasks precisely.
  • Coordinate effectively with site supervisors, engineers, and other team members to ensure smooth project progression and meet deadlines.
  • Conduct minor routine maintenance and perform basic repairs on equipment as needed to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, damage, or safety concerns immediately to supervisors for prompt resolution.
  • Ensure proper care, cleaning, and maintenance of all assigned equipment, keeping it in good working order and extending its lifespan.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment (e.g., excavator, dozer, loader, grader).
  • Strong understanding and adherence to construction site safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret grade stakes, survey markings, and construction plans.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work extended hours in various outdoor weather conditions.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) with a clean driving abstract.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with team members and supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant heavy equipment operation certifications (e.g., Red Seal, provincial certifications).
  • Experience with GPS-enabled and automated machinery.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Previous experience on large-scale civil infrastructure, resort development, or commercial construction projects.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting minor equipment issues and performing preventative maintenance.
