Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Heavy Equipment / Plant Manager to join our dynamic team in Blackpool. This critical role involves overseeing all aspects of heavy equipment and plant operations for our diverse construction and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective management, maintenance, and deployment of our extensive fleet. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plant management, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the acquisition, maintenance, repair, and disposal of heavy equipment and plant machinery.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and lifespan.
  • Oversee plant operations, including scheduling, deployment, and logistics, ensuring optimal utilization across multiple projects.
  • Lead and mentor a team of plant operators, mechanics, and technicians, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Manage plant budgets, control costs, and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and vendors for equipment purchases, spare parts, and service contracts.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, maintenance history, and operational performance.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to assess equipment condition and operational effectiveness.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy equipment or plant management, preferably within the construction or infrastructure sector.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong understanding of heavy equipment mechanics, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations pertaining to plant operations.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and maintenance software systems.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and control costs effectively.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in plant management or heavy equipment operations.
  • Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of lean principles or other continuous improvement methodologies.
