Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Inorganic Chemist with a strong focus on catalysis and battery technology to join our innovative R&D team in Biloxi, MS. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, synthesizing, and characterizing novel inorganic materials for advanced catalytic processes and next-generation energy storage solutions. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects, drive scientific discovery, and translate cutting-edge research into commercial applications. We are looking for a proactive individual with a deep understanding of inorganic synthesis, materials characterization, and a passion for developing sustainable chemical and energy technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and synthesize novel inorganic materials, including metal oxides, coordination polymers, and hybrid materials, with targeted properties for catalysis and battery applications.
- Perform advanced characterization of synthesized materials using techniques such as XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, FTIR, Raman, NMR, TGA, DSC, and electrochemical methods.
- Develop and optimize catalytic processes, including heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis, for various chemical transformations.
- Investigate and improve electrochemical performance of battery materials, focusing on anode, cathode, and electrolyte components.
- Analyze complex experimental data, interpret results, and generate clear, concise reports and presentations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, material scientists, and other R&D teams to advance project goals.
- Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature, technological advancements, and intellectual property in inorganic chemistry, catalysis, and battery technology.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in inorganic synthesis and materials characterization.
- Demonstrated expertise in heterogeneous catalysis, including catalyst design, synthesis, and performance evaluation.
- Strong background in battery materials research, including knowledge of various battery chemistries (e.g., Li-ion, solid-state) and electrochemical characterization techniques.
- Proficiency with a wide range of analytical techniques (XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, FTIR, Raman, NMR, TGA, DSC).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong track record of scientific publication or patent generation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced R&D environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with computational chemistry or materials modeling.
- Knowledge of process scale-up and industrial application of inorganic materials.
- Familiarity with intellectual property processes and patent landscape analysis.
- Experience in project management and leading small technical teams.
