Job Description
Are you a tech-savvy individual who enjoys helping others get their new devices up and running? Currys is looking for a dedicated and friendly Laptop Home Setup Aide to assist customers with essential connectivity tasks for their new laptops. This part-time role involves travelling to customer homes within the Woking area to provide hands-on support, ensuring their new technology is configured correctly and they can connect to the internet, peripherals, and other essential services without a hitch. Ideal for someone with a basic understanding of computer hardware and software, excellent communication skills, and a desire to make a real difference in people’s tech experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to customer homes within the designated service area to assist with laptop setups.
- Help customers connect new laptops to home Wi-Fi networks and troubleshoot basic connectivity issues.
- Assist with connecting peripherals such as printers, external monitors, and other accessories.
- Provide basic guidance on operating systems and essential software applications.
- Ensure all necessary drivers and updates are installed to optimize laptop performance.
- Educate customers on basic security practices and safe internet usage.
- Document services performed and customer satisfaction feedback.
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanour at all times.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems.
- Understanding of Wi-Fi network configuration and troubleshooting.
- Ability to connect and configure common computer peripherals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience and a customer-centric attitude.
- Reliable transportation to travel to customer locations.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service or technical support role.
- Basic familiarity with smart home devices and their connectivity.
- CompTIA A+ or similar entry-level IT certification (not mandatory).
- Experience with basic data transfer or backup procedures.
