Job Description

As a Live Sound Technician with a Concert & Tour Focus, you will be a critical part of our production team, ensuring pristine audio quality for a wide range of live music events, from intimate club gigs to large-scale arena concerts and multi-city tours. This role requires extensive travel, a deep understanding of live sound systems, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in dynamic environments. You will be responsible for setting up, operating, and dismantling audio equipment, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with artists, tour managers, and venue staff to deliver an exceptional auditory experience for our audiences. Your expertise will directly contribute to the success and impact of our live productions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, calibrate, and operate front-of-house (FOH) and monitor sound systems for various live performances.
  • Conduct thorough sound checks and line checks, ensuring all audio channels are correctly routed and optimized.
  • Mix live audio during performances, adjusting levels, equalization, dynamics, and effects to achieve optimal sound quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical audio issues promptly during rehearsals and live events.
  • Collaborate closely with artists, tour managers, lighting technicians, and stage crew to ensure seamless production.
  • Maintain, inspect, and repair audio equipment, cables, and accessories.
  • Pack down and safely transport audio equipment after events.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Travel extensively with tours, sometimes for weeks at a time, across various locations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Live Sound Technician or Audio Engineer in a concert/touring environment (minimum 3 years).
  • Strong understanding of signal flow, acoustics, and audio physics.
  • Proficiency with digital and analog mixing consoles (e.g., Avid VENUE, Digico, Yamaha CL/QL, Midas).
  • Familiarity with various PA systems, microphones, wireless systems, and outboard gear.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex audio issues quickly and effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively and work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or certification in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Experience with rigging and stage setup.
  • Knowledge of DMX lighting protocols and basic video systems.
  • Proficiency with audio measurement software (e.g., Smaart).
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience leading a small audio team.
