Job Description

As a Music Curriculum Developer, you will be instrumental in designing and developing engaging and effective music education content for Coursera’s diverse global audience. This fully remote position requires a blend of deep musical knowledge, pedagogical expertise, and a passion for leveraging technology to create innovative learning experiences. You will collaborate with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and multimedia teams to bring high-quality music courses to life on our platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and revise comprehensive and engaging music curricula and course materials for online delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with music instructors and subject matter experts to translate complex musical concepts into clear, accessible, and interactive online learning experiences.
  • Incorporate best practices in instructional design and educational technology to enhance learner engagement and outcomes.
  • Manage the end-to-end curriculum development process, including needs assessment, content outlining, scriptwriting, assessment design, and iterative review cycles.
  • Ensure all curriculum adheres to Coursera's quality standards, accessibility guidelines, and brand voice.
  • Stay current with trends in music education, online learning methodologies, and educational technology to continuously improve course offerings.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to content creators and instructional design teams.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in music curriculum design and development.
  • Strong understanding of music theory, history, composition, and performance.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) and other educational technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a remote, cross-functional team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Music Education, Musicology, Composition, or a related field.
  • Experience with interactive multimedia content creation for educational purposes.
  • Familiarity with various music software and digital audio workstations (DAWs).
  • Experience teaching music at the university or collegiate level.
  • A portfolio showcasing developed curriculum or educational content.
