Job Description
Are you a night owl looking for a fulfilling role where you can make a real difference? The Alverton Hotel is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our team as a Night Porter. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for someone with no prior experience in hospitality, as full training and a relevant certificate will be provided. You will be the friendly face of our hotel during the quieter hours, ensuring the safety and comfort of our guests, managing front desk operations, and preparing for the day ahead. If you’re dependable, eager to learn, and have a positive attitude, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular security checks throughout the hotel premises.
- Handle guest check-ins and check-outs during the night shift.
- Address guest inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints promptly and professionally.
- Prepare and set up breakfast areas as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of public areas, including the reception and lounge.
- Process night audit reports and prepare daily financial summaries.
- Assist with luggage and other guest needs.
- Manage telephone calls and emails efficiently.
- Respond to emergencies and follow hotel safety procedures.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer literacy
- A proactive and helpful attitude
- Eligibility to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a customer service role
- First Aid certification (training can be provided)
- Knowledge of local area attractions in Cornwall
