Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pain Management Nurse to join our specialized team. This is a unique opportunity for an RN with a clinical focus to provide expert care in a stable Monday-Friday schedule, promoting work-life balance. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients experiencing acute and chronic pain. You will collaborate closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized pain management plans, educate patients and their families, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care within our outpatient clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pain assessments, including patient history, physical examination, and review of diagnostic tests.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized pain management plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including intravenous infusions and nerve blocks, under physician supervision.
- Provide patient and family education on pain management techniques, medication usage, lifestyle modifications, and self-care strategies.
- Monitor and document patient responses to interventions, adjusting care plans as needed.
- Serve as a resource and advocate for patients experiencing pain, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to enhance clinical practice.
- Assist with scheduling and coordination of patient appointments and procedures.
- Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.
Required Skills
- Current RN license in the State of Kansas.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a registered nurse, with at least 1 year in a pain management, medical-surgical, or critical care setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred upon hire or within 6 months.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certified Pain Management Nurse (CPMN) credential or commitment to obtain within 2 years of hire.
- Experience with interventional pain procedures.
- Familiarity with opioid stewardship programs and alternative pain therapies.
