Job Description

Are you passionate about helping others and looking for a rewarding career where you can make a real impact? ModivCare is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Paratransit Drivers with a strong community support focus. This role is ideal for those who are new to the field or looking for a fresh start, as comprehensive training will be provided. As a Paratransit Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers, many with special needs or mobility challenges, to and from medical appointments, social engagements, and other essential destinations. Your compassion, patience, and commitment to excellent service will be key in providing a comfortable and dignified transportation experience for our community members in New Port Richey and the surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and deboarding, including those using wheelchairs or other mobility aids, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Secure passengers and their equipment properly before departure.
  • Maintain a clean and presentable vehicle interior and exterior.
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules, adapting to changes as necessary with clear communication.
  • Provide empathetic and respectful service to all passengers, understanding their individual needs.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and accurately document any issues.
  • Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage records, and passenger manifests.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, passengers, and caregivers.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Required Skills

  • Valid State Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a compassionate demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Physical ability to assist passengers, including lifting and securing wheelchairs.
  • Basic knowledge of local geography and street navigation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Familiarity with paratransit operations or non-emergency medical transportation.
