Job Description
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young people? The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Arizona is seeking an energetic and dedicated Part-time After-School Club Playworker with a focus on weekend events to join our Scottsdale team. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and engaging children in a safe, fun, and stimulating environment during after-school hours and particularly during special weekend programs and events. This on-site position requires a commitment to creating memorable experiences and fostering development through play and structured activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise children during after-school hours and weekend events, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Plan, organize, and lead engaging recreational, educational, and creative activities tailored for different age groups.
- Develop and implement exciting weekend programs and special events that encourage participation and growth.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all club members.
- Assist with setting up and tidying activity areas and equipment before, during, and after programs.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with club members, parents, and staff members.
- Address behavioral issues promptly and appropriately, following established club policies and procedures.
- Support the overall mission, values, and strategic goals of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Arizona.
Required Skills
- Experience working with children aged 5-18 in a group setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with youth.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and lead engaging activities.
- Patience, creativity, and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth development organization.
- Background or studies in education, recreation, child development, or a related field.
- Knowledge of positive behavior management techniques and conflict resolution strategies.
- Experience in event planning or coordination, particularly for youth programs.
