Job Description
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and efficient Remote Data Scribe to join our medical records team. This position is 100% remote and requires an individual with exceptional focus and speed to accurately transcribe, categorize, and enter high volumes of medical information into our electronic health record (EHR) systems. You will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and accessibility of patient data, directly supporting clinical operations and patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and a proven ability to handle large data sets with precision under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe and input patient data from various sources (audio, handwritten notes, scanned documents) into designated EHR systems.
- Ensure all medical records adhere to strict quality, compliance, and confidentiality standards (HIPAA).
- Review and verify existing patient information for completeness and accuracy, making necessary corrections.
- Categorize and tag medical data according to established protocols and coding guidelines.
- Manage and prioritize a high volume of data entry tasks to meet daily and weekly targets.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff as needed to clarify information or resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and common medical procedures.
- Identify and report any inconsistencies or issues in data integrity or system functionality.
Required Skills
- Exceptional typing speed and accuracy (minimum 60 WPM).
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology.
- Strong data entry and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain focus for extended periods.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion (HIPAA compliance).
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated, quiet home office workspace.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in Medical Assisting, Health Information Technology, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a medical scribe, data entry specialist in a healthcare setting, or medical records clerk.
- Familiarity with various Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Certification in Medical Scribing or Health Information Technology.
