Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Remote Human Rights Advocate with a focus on Global Policy to join our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact advocacy and policy development from anywhere in the world. As a Global Policy Advocate, you will play a crucial role in shaping and advancing Amnesty International’s positions on critical human rights issues, engaging with international bodies, governments, and civil society to influence policy and practice. This role requires a deep understanding of international human rights law, strong research skills, and the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and persuasively. The position is 100% remote, offering flexibility and the chance to work with a diverse global team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis on emerging human rights issues and violations globally.
  • Develop and draft policy briefs, advocacy papers, reports, and other materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Engage with international organizations (e.g., UN, regional bodies), government officials, and diplomatic missions to advocate for human rights protection.
  • Monitor and analyze global policy developments and trends relevant to Amnesty International's mandate.
  • Collaborate with regional and thematic teams to ensure coherent and impactful advocacy strategies.
  • Represent Amnesty International at conferences, meetings, and public events as required.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of campaign strategies.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in human rights advocacy, international relations, or public policy.
  • Strong knowledge of international human rights law and mechanisms.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to write clear, concise, and persuasive policy documents and reports.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, remote team environment.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Human Rights, International Law, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
  • Experience working with international governmental organizations or NGOs.
  • Fluency in a second UN language (e.g., French, Spanish, Arabic).
  • Demonstrated experience in digital advocacy and campaign mobilization.
  • Familiarity with global geopolitical landscapes and human rights challenges in specific regions.
