Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Respite Care Provider to join our team for short-term shifts in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This role offers a high hourly rate for professionals committed to providing exceptional care and support to individuals and their families. As a Respite Care Provider, you will offer temporary relief to primary caregivers, allowing them much-needed breaks while ensuring their loved ones receive continuous, high-quality care. This is a crucial role that makes a significant difference in the lives of our clients and their support systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding, as needed.
  • Assist with mobility, transfers, and light exercises as per care plan.
  • Administer medication reminders and assist with medication management.
  • Engage clients in stimulating activities, conversation, and companionship.
  • Prepare light meals and assist with feeding.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties related to the client's immediate environment.
  • Monitor and report any changes in the client's health, behavior, or well-being to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided.
  • Adhere to all CarePartners policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in personal support or respite care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to empathize, show patience, and provide compassionate care.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and manage short-term shifts effectively.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (or ability to obtain).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a Personal Support Worker (PSW) program, Health Care Aide (HCA) certificate, or equivalent.
  • Experience with various client conditions (e.g., dementia, physical disabilities).
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Flexibility to accommodate varying shift lengths and times.
