Job Description
Bradley University School of Music is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialized Piano Instructor to join our distinguished faculty. This full-time position requires an exceptional pianist with a profound passion for teaching and a proven ability to inspire advanced students. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing one-on-one and group instruction to students ranging from undergraduate to advanced conservatory levels, specializing in classical piano repertoire, technique, and interpretation. This role demands a commitment to nurturing artistic growth, preparing students for performances, competitions, and professional auditions, and contributing to the vibrant musical life of our conservatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert one-on-one piano instruction to students of varying skill levels, primarily focusing on advanced repertoire and technique.
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to student needs and goals.
- Prepare students for recitals, juries, competitions, and college auditions.
- Lead group masterclasses, workshops, and ensemble coaching sessions.
- Participate in student recruitment efforts and faculty meetings.
- Contribute to the curriculum development and artistic direction of the piano program.
- Maintain a professional studio environment and keep accurate student records.
- Attend and support student performances and departmental events.
- Engage in professional development and maintain active performance or scholarly activities.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Piano Performance or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of collegiate or conservatory-level piano teaching experience.
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency in classical piano performance and pedagogy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students to achieve their full potential.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in music theory and history relevant to piano repertoire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Piano Performance or a related field (e.g., DMA, Ph.D.).
- Extensive performance experience at a professional level.
- Experience adjudicating piano competitions or leading workshops.
- Familiarity with various piano methods and pedagogical approaches.
- A strong record of student success in competitions, auditions, or professional placements.
