Job Description
Are you passionate about the art of baking and eager to learn from the best? Sugar & Spice Bakery is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Trainee Artisan Bakers / Pastry Preps. This is a unique ‘learn on the job’ opportunity, perfect for those with little to no prior experience but a strong desire to master the craft of baking and pastry preparation. You will work alongside our experienced bakers and pastry chefs, gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of a busy, high-quality bakery operation. We are looking for dedicated individuals who are ready to immerse themselves in a fast-paced environment and contribute to creating delicious treats for our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior bakers and pastry chefs in the preparation and production of various baked goods, including breads, cakes, pastries, and cookies.
- Learn and apply foundational baking techniques, including mixing doughs, shaping breads, proofing, and decorating pastries.
- Prepare ingredients, including measuring, sifting, and scaling, ensuring accuracy and adherence to recipes.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to all food safety and sanitation standards.
- Monitor oven temperatures and baking times to ensure consistent product quality.
- Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and rotating products.
- Develop a strong understanding of different ingredients and their properties.
- Support the team in daily production goals and ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow within the bakery.
