Job Description
Join UPS as a City Driver and become a vital part of our robust logistics network in Fort Wayne, Indiana. As a City Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely pickup and delivery of packages to residential and commercial customers within a designated route. Key Responsibilities
- Operate a company vehicle safely and efficiently, following all traffic laws and UPS procedures.
- Pick up and deliver packages to various locations on a designated route, adhering to time commitments.
- Sort and load packages onto the delivery vehicle according to sequence of delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups, including obtaining customer signatures.
- Provide excellent customer service, responding to inquiries and resolving issues professionally.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and report any maintenance needs.
- Handle packages weighing up to 70 pounds and maneuver heavy packages with appropriate equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and customers.
Required Skills
- Valid state driver’s license (Class C or higher, as required by vehicle type and state law).
- Clean driving record for the past 3 years.
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 70 pounds unassisted and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience.
- Experience in customer service or a related field.
- Familiarity with the Fort Wayne metropolitan area.
- Basic computer literacy for handheld device operation.
