Job Description
Join the UPS team as a Warehouse Box Truck Driver, playing a crucial role in our daily operations. You will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting goods between our warehouse facilities and various local destinations within the West Augusta area. This is a full-time position with a consistent Monday-Friday, day shift schedule, providing a reliable routine. We are looking for a dedicated individual who is committed to safety, punctuality, and excellent service. Experience with box trucks and warehouse operations is a plus, but a strong work ethic and a clean driving record are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a box truck (typically 16-26 ft) safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and company regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment, ensuring everything is in good working order.
- Load and unload merchandise from the truck, potentially using pallet jacks or other material handling equipment.
- Transport goods to various local destinations, including other UPS facilities, distribution centers, and customer locations.
- Verify cargo against delivery manifests and ensure accurate documentation for all shipments.
- Maintain a clean and organized truck cab and cargo area.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers.
- Adhere to strict safety standards and procedures at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class C Driver's License (or equivalent) for commercial non-CDL vehicles.
- Clean driving record with no major infractions.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Physical capability to lift, push, and pull up to 70 lbs independently and handle heavier items with assistance.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Familiarity with local West Augusta and surrounding areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating a commercial box truck or similar vehicle.
- Experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Forklift certification or experience operating a pallet jack.
