Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and meticulous individuals to join our team as a University Dormitory Summer Cleaner for seasonal deep cleaning at our client’s university campus in Westminster, London. This temporary role is crucial for ensuring student dormitories are thoroughly cleaned and prepared to the highest standards for the upcoming academic year. You will be responsible for a comprehensive range of cleaning tasks, working independently and as part of a small team during the summer months. This position is vital for campus readiness and offers a great opportunity to gain experience in a professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform deep cleaning of student dormitory rooms, common areas, bathrooms, and kitchens, including all surfaces, fixtures, and fittings.
- Sanitize and disinfect all high-touch surfaces to maintain health and safety standards.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, and polish floors in all assigned areas.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces to a streak-free finish.
- Empty waste bins, replace liners, and ensure proper disposal of all refuse.
- Dust and wipe down furniture, shelves, light fixtures, and other room amenities.
- Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards discovered during cleaning to the appropriate supervisor.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and company policies.
- Manage cleaning supplies efficiently, ensuring proper usage and reporting stock needs to avoid shortages.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, stretching, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and effective cleaning techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
- Reliable, punctual, and possesses a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and as a collaborative team member.
- Good communication skills to interact with supervisors and team members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in commercial or institutional cleaning, particularly within a university, hotel, or residential setting.
- Familiarity with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
