Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled IT Support Technician to join our team in the San Jose area. This unique role combines the flexibility of remote work with the necessity of field-based support, ensuring our clients receive prompt and effective technical assistance. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues, both from your home office and directly at client sites. This position requires strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide remote and on-site technical support for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain workstations, servers, and peripheral devices.
  • Perform routine system maintenance, updates, and backups.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical problems efficiently.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Document all support activities and solutions in a ticketing system.
  • Educate users on best practices and basic troubleshooting steps.
  • Collaborate with senior IT staff on larger projects and system upgrades.
  • Respond to emergency support requests as needed.
  • Travel to various client locations within the San Jose area to provide direct support.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11, Server editions).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (365 administration a plus).
  • Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Basic understanding of Active Directory and user management.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for field visits.
  • CompTIA A+ or equivalent certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience with remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
  • Experience with VPN setup and troubleshooting.
  • ITIL Foundation certification.
