Job Description
As a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with CVS Health in Topeka, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service and supporting our pharmacists in dispensing medications. This position offers top hourly rates and a comprehensive benefits package, recognizing your expertise and commitment to patient care. You will be responsible for preparing and dispensing prescriptions, managing inventory, and ensuring a smooth and efficient pharmacy operation, all while adhering to strict safety and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in the dispensing of prescription medications, including data entry, counting, pouring, measuring, and labeling.
- Process prescription refills and manage prior authorizations as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service, answering patient questions, and resolving issues with a professional and empathetic approach.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations, including HIPAA.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating medications.
- Perform various clerical duties, such as answering phones, operating cash registers, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist with immunization clinics and other pharmacy services as directed by the pharmacist.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of insurance claims.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify prescription orders and resolve discrepancies.
Required Skills
- Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through PTCB or NHA.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and basic computer applications.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a retail pharmacy setting.
- Knowledge of insurance claim processing and prior authorization procedures.
- Familiarity with CVS Health pharmacy operating procedures and systems.
- Ability to speak Spanish or other secondary languages.
