Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Environmental Scientist with a strong consulting background to join our dynamic team in Pasadena, CA. This pivotal role will involve leading complex environmental projects, managing client relationships, providing expert technical guidance, and contributing to business development efforts. The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering innovative and compliant environmental solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multi-disciplinary environmental projects from inception to close-out, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Serve as a primary client contact, fostering strong relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
- Provide senior-level technical expertise in environmental science, regulatory compliance (e.g., NEPA, CEQA, Clean Water Act), and permitting processes.
- Oversee the preparation of complex technical reports, environmental impact assessments, and regulatory submissions.
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Conduct rigorous quality control reviews of project deliverables.
- Participate in strategic planning and business development activities, including proposal preparation and client presentations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on project management and technical leadership.
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., NEPA, CEQA, CWA, CAA, RCRA).
- Proven ability to manage complex environmental projects, budgets, and schedules.
- Strong technical writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in client relationship management and business development.
- Proficiency in environmental data analysis, GIS, and relevant software applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant environmental discipline.
- Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure, transportation, or water resources projects.
- Prior experience in a consulting firm with significant client interaction and project oversight.
